Calling All Snow Bunnies: Romantic Getaways in Michigan

If you and your partner love to ski, then choosing a romantic getaway in Michigan is the best way to relax, have fun and revitalize. But skiing is not the only way to find fun in this Midwestern state. Here are some things you can do to have a fun and memorable romantic getaway in Michigan.

Snow and More Snow

For a romantic getaway in Michigan, skiing is one of the main activities in the winter. Cross country, downhill, snowboarding, snowmobiling and other popular sports in the snow are more examples of ways to have fun in the snow. Michigan has been known to celebrate the amount of snow that gets dropped on them with various winter festivals and other activities to keep tourists and residents alike warm in the cold.

There are a lot of slopes that offer weekend, or longer ski packages that include lodging in a cabin or ski resort. Ski magazine recently named Michigan as one of the top areas in the United States for recreational skiing, snowboarding and other winter recreation.

Summer Time Activities

If you don't want to experience the cold of the snow, then consider visiting Michigan in the summer time, as there are plenty of outdoor activities to pursue in the hotter months. Surrounded by the Great Lakes, the perfect romantic getaway in Michigan would be renting a cabin lakeside, and enjoying such activities as fishing, waterskiing, and wakeboarding, swimming and hiking.

Discovering Michigan

If you want to just experience a quieter romantic getaway in Michigan, but still want to experience what the city has to offer, consider visiting Detroit, the state's biggest city, and the town within it, Foxtown. This section of Detroit offers a wide variety of entertainment, sports, dining and lodging. Within Detroit, there are a number of things to do while staying within the city. Museum visits, historical centers, various tours and other entertainment entities are ways that you can enjoy a taste of Michigan without having to dive in the snow or a lake.

Most couples, when considering a vacation together, would not want to count a romantic getaway in Michigan as a way to have fun, or see anything interesting. But, it is good to know that Michigan embraces their cold seasons with winter festivals, and various other activities that will keep you and your loved one entertained, and at the same time relaxed.
